01-30-2014 10:31 BJT Special Report: 2014 Spring Festival |

Today is the last day of 2013 in the lunar calender, and various activities have been held in Taiwan.

In Kaohsiung city, a 6-minute long firework display lit the sky, with fireworks in the shape of a crown and flowers. In Tainan city, there will be a special fire-work show this weekend. The show will be environmentally-friendly, with phosphorus and aluminium free explosives. Combined with sound effects and lighting shows, artists will welcome the year of the horse.

In southern Taiwan, people can celebrate Spring Festival by taking a bath in a hot spring. In Chinese culture, the galloping horse is believed to have the power of bringing good luck and new adventures to people's lives. The Chinese Lunar New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, is the biggest Chinese celebration of the year. Festivities traditionally continue for at least 15 days.
