Real Mallorca keep European hopes alive

Real Mallorca were on the road at Athletic Bilbao looking for the victory which would maintain their challenge for a European berth. Against the run of play Real Mallorca coach Gregorio Manzano saw his side take the lead when Gonzalo Castro scored in the 43rd minute, heading home from five meters.

- GOAL - but two minutes into first half stoppage time Llorente headed in a cross to equalize. Mallorca came out for the second half determined to kill off Athletic, who have won 10 of their 16 home games.

- Two minutes after the restart Mallorca captain Nunes volleyed in a corner from Julio Alvarez to make it 2-1.

- It wasn't long before it was 3-1, Precisely 120 seconds after Mallorca's second, along came their third. Aritz Aduriz played a one-two Julio Alvarez who then scored against his former club. The victory put them in pole position for fourth place and a spot in Europe next season.
