Real Madrid, in the black uniforms took the pitch at Malaga, and the home team struck first in the ninth minute. Duda and Felipe Caicedo went 1-2 and the Portuguese midfielder struck the ball past Iker Casillas in the Madrid goal 1-0 Malaga.

But Real's Rafael van der Vaart struck back just after the start of the second half. Marcelo got him the ball and then it was all individual effort. Van der Vaart ties things up 1-1 for Real Madrid and the score would stand for a draw against Malaga.

Turning to the other Sunday matches another 1-1 draw confirmed Xerez's relegation from the Primera Division after one season in La Liga. It wasn't bad news for Racing Santander.

It secured its top flight survival with a final-day victory over Sporting Gijon. And an 89th minute score helped Valencia win its final day match, and dropped Tenerife into relegation.

In the standings, Barca goes back-to-back with its 20th Spanish title overall. Real Madrid ended a disappointing campaign by falling short and landing in second place. Valencia finished the season in third.
