After having a great league campaign and securing a spot in next seasons Champions League, Sevilla could relax and aim for cup success against Atletico Madrid in the 108th Copa Del Rey final. Atletico were looking for a cup double after winning the Europa League, while Sevilla were gunning for a second Del Rey title in four years.

Sevilla started the game brighter and a quick attack allowed Jesus Navas to shoot, the shot was blocked and cannoned out to Diego Capel. He was quickest to react lashing home a stunning opener with a left footed strike that left the David De Gea no chance in Atletico's goal. It was his fourth goal of the season.

Later in the half, Atletico went up the field two minutes from half time, Tomas Uj-falusi combined with Diego Forlan and his shot forced a sharp save out of Sevilla's keeper Andres Palop. Atletico created the better chances in the opening period but couldn't find a way through a stubborn Sevilla defence.

In the 59th minute Sevilla's Didier Zakora and Frederic Kanoute set up Alvaro Negredo but his shot went straight into keeper David De Gea.
