Any given Sunday is a term normally applied to football, but this Sunday, it certainly applied to the world of golf. At the BMW Championship at Wentworth, world number 471 Simon Khan went from journeyman to champion on Sunday, when he produced the biggest final-day comeback in the history of the BMW Championship at Wentworth.

Ireland's Padraig Harrington here had a birdie putt at 11th, and he finished with a two-under tally of 282, after a steady round of 72.

Englishman Danny Willett finished day three with a birdie on the 18th - and did the same again on day four. However, lying in joint second place with Robert Karlsson after the third round, a round of 74 saw Willett drop back to fifth overall.

Meanwhile, another consistent round from Scot Stephen Gallacher helped him to finish one stroke clear of Willett with a four-under-par total.

A great birdie finish at the 18th from Fredrik Anderson Hed concluded a storming round of 67 for the Swede - good enough to see him finish in second place overall, where he was joined by England's Luke Donald.

Until the 17th hole, Donald looked on course for victory, but a costly double-bogey seven left the Ryder Cup star needing an eagle on the par-five last. And he came agonisingly close, but as the ball span away, a new PGA champion emerged.

In an extraordinary twist, England's Simon Khan produced a five-under-par round of 66 to finish a shot clear of Donald and Andersson Hed with a six-under-par total of 278. Khan, ranked 471 in the world, came from seven strokes back to produce the biggest final-day comeback in the history of this blue-riband event.
