The finals of the Greek Basketball league have come to a close under troubling circumstances. Serious crowd trouble caused Game Four to be abandoned with just over a minute to play on Sunday.

Police used tear gas to subdue rioting fans before the game began, leading to a 45-minute delay to the action at Olympiakos' ironically named "Peace and Friendship" stadium.

The game was stopped again 25 minutes later after a smoke bomb was let off close to the Panathinaikos bench.

The stadium was almost deserted when the two teams re-emerged, following appeals from players and officials.

But with around a minute to play and Panathinaikos leading 76-69, the remaining Olympiakos fans began throwing objects onto the court.

Referees decided to end the game and award victory to Panathinaikos.

It handed the team their eighth consecutive Greek title and 12th in the last 13 seasons. Olympiakos could still appeal the decision.
