Cliff Diving World Series, the latest stop of the 2010 season in Mexico on Saturday.

The world elite of cliff diving jumped quite literally into a hole - a sacred well near the archaeological site of Chichen Itza, one of the Seven New Wonders of the World.

The top six divers after two rounds qualified for the final.

Among them was nine-times world champion Orlando Duque of Colombia.

Placed third before the final round he put it all on the line, pulling out a reverse double somersault with four twists - one of the most difficult dives and his brave strategy secured him third position.

Russia's Artem Silchenko chose a back armstand two-and-a-half somersault with one-and-a-half twists for the final round.

An excellent performance by Silchenko but not enough to beat the outstanding athlete of the day: Gary Hunt of Great Britain.

After his famous "Triple Quad" in the second round - the most difficult dive ever - the 25-year-old showed off in the final with a fabulously-executed front quad somersault with one-and-a-half twists, which again put him in first place.
