Ghana beats US, through to quarter finals

The second team to advance to the quarterfinals is Ghana who upended the USA 2-1 in extra time.

Kevin-Prince Boateng put Ghana 1-0 ahead against the United States at half-time. Landon Donovan pulled the Americans back onto the same footing with a 62nd-minute penalty kick. Asamoah Gyan scored the significant goal for Ghana in the 93rd minute.

Ghana will meet Uruguay at Johannesburg's Soccer City in a quarter-final on Friday. Ghana is the only one of six African sides in the tournament to make it past the group stage.
