Germany's Sebastian Vettel converted pole position into a Grand Prix victory for the first time this season on Sunday, after leading from the front to win the European Grand Prix in Valencia, Spain.

The RedBull-Renault driver had made three poles before, in Bahrain, Australia and China, but never shone in the race itself - this time though Vettel produced a consummate drive in searing heat to win by five seconds over McLaren's Lewis Hamilton, who increased his lead at the top of the drivers' standings to six points over current world champion and British team-mate Jenson Button, who finished third.
