South African President Jacob Zuma has officially opened a FIFA-sponsored tournament "Football for Hope". It brings together 32 teams of youngsters from disadvantaged communities worldwide.
The tournament is being held in Johannesburg's township of Alexandra. The five-a-side tournament, includes young boys and girls from all over the world and is played without referees. The competition, aims to promote social change through friendship. It also aims to raise awareness for various issues including HIV, landmines and drug use.

world come together in Johannesburg for a festival of education and
culture that will culminate in a football tournament in a specially-
constructed stadium in the community of Alexandra from July 4 to 10.
