The Genghis Khan Adventure mountain bike race and marathon kicked off in Inner Mongolia. Competitors battled rough terrain to see who could win a fight for endurance in the Chinese countryside.

The two events were set on the vast grasslands of Xilinguole League, Inner Mongolia. The rides are for bike athletes who want a challenge, and for riders who want an exciting and different kind of holiday. The weather was dry and hot.

The temperature rose to around 27 to 34 degrees Celsius. All the cyclers seemed to enjoy their mountain bike adventure, but Chinese riders Wang Lei and Chen Shashan enjoyed it more than everyone else. Wang Lei won the men's title, and Chen Shashan won the women's.

More than 300 participants from 28 countries took part in the grassland marathon event. They had to tackle 3 different distances: 10, 21, and 42 kilometers. Chinese runner Ma Jianxia took the women's 10km title.
