Henry scores in debut

International football superstar Thierry Henry took the field for the first time for Major League Soccer in the United States.

The New York Red Bulls' high-profile pickup drew all the attention against Tottenham Hotspur in the opening match of the Barclays New York Challenge.

The Frenchman wore the number 14 along with a winning smile, as he made his debut for New York.

He got his first chance soon after the start. Henry took a shot in the seventh minute, but it was saved by the Spurs goalkeeper.

That only built up the anticipation in the crowd. 25th minute: Henry scored his first goal for the Red Bulls and M-L-S. Red Bulls lead 1-0 over Spurs.

But Tottenham would strike back in the second half. Robbie Keane and Gareth Bale found the net. Spurs spoil Henry's party with a 2-1 win.
