In the earlier game, Slovenia took on Iran.

Slovenia begin chipping away at an early Iran lead when Jana Klobucar took the steal coast-to-coast for the lay-up to cut Iran's advantage to 14-8.

Iran returned the favour in the second quarter when Aren Davoudi stripped Klobucar and then sent it the other way to Iman Zandi to pull within two of Slovenia, 30-28.

But things quickly went south for Iran as Slovenia pulled away....ending a strong first half on a three pointer by Samo Udrih to go the break with a 20-point lead.

There was more of the same in the second half, with Slovenia taking a 68-43 third quarter advantage when the Phoenix Suns Goran Dragic found Uros Slokar open for the easy slam dunk down low.

The third quarter punishment continued through Slovenia's NBA connection as Phoenix's Dragic left it up high for the Milwaukee Bucks Primoz Brezec who dropped it in for the basket and the foul as Slovenia moved ahead by 22 points 81-59.

Slovenia went on to crush Iran 107-74.
