We begin with basketball at the Stankovic Continential Cup. China looked to get untracked in the world championship warmup, and faced a tough opponent in Iran, the national side that beat the Chinese last August.

China lost to Australia in its opening game, but Sun Yue and Yi Jianlian made sure that would not happen against the Iranians. Both players brought NBA experience to the court for China and it paid off in the first quarter.

Sun scored seven early points, while Yi scored six straight. China led 21-15 after the first quarter.

Iran played without star center Hamed Haddadi and could not find much offense, while China increased its lead.

Iran did not hit from the field until 3 minutes and 23 seconds were left before halftime..and only scored 8 points in the entire second quarter. China finished the first half up by 20.

Australia managed to come back against China in the first game of the tournament, but China stayed strong this time.

The home team answered every Iranian run in the third quarter.

Wang Shipeng stepped up, scoring 7 straight in a minute and a half to push the lead back over 20.

China went to its bench in the final quarter and cruised to an 86-64 win. It's China's first victory at this year's Stankovic Cup...Iran falls to 0-2.
