China sweep Puerto Rico to open Volleyball G.P.

The World Women's Volleyball Grand Prix began on Friday in Chengdu, Sichuan province. Hosts China are off to a good start at the event, taking a straight sets win over Puerto Rico in their opener.

With star spiker Wang Yimei back from injury and ready to play, she got the start in the frontcourt alongside fellow star Hui Ruoqi.

This year is the second time that Puerto Rico has competed in the event, and are proving to be a tough matchup. The first set was a tight affair with the two teams going back and forth...exchanging points all the way to 10-10.

However, as the set wore on China adapted its' game to deal with the Puerto Rican attack. China would start to take control and would go on to take the first set 25-20

From there, China would not look back. Chen Liyi had an outstanding performance in the second set as China won 25-18.

And China would go wrap things up with a win in the third, to sweep Puerto Rico 3-0 to open the Grand Prix on a winning note.
