The opening ceremony of Singapore Youth Olympics will be held this weekend but competitions at the Games officially kicked off on Thursday with girls football.

The Iran-Turkey match took place at Jalan Besar Stadium. The girls from Iran wore FIFA-approved attire - white cap and trousers - in place of the traditional headscarves.

Turkey took the early lead, but Iran leveled the score in the 14th minute. Turkey would however, retake the lead and eventually pull away, finishing off a 4-2 win. Most of the girls taking part in the match on both sides were 15 years old. Six teams representing six continents are competing in the Youth Olympic Games.
