Berdych advances, Youzhny upset in Cincinnati Masters

Tennis now from the Cincinnati Masters where there was an easy victory for Tomas Berdych, as he easily advanced to the next round with a win over Frenchman Paul Henri Mathieu.

Berdych reached the quarterfinals of his last 2 hard court tournaments, including a tight loss to Roger Federer in Toronto last week. After winning the first set, Berdych then hit a lob shot winner to break serve and go up 3-0 in the second set. Then Mathieu hit his effort wide on match point, as Berdych went on to win 6-4, 6-4, and book a place in the next round.

Mathieu's compatriot Richard Gasquet is also going well. After losing the first set in his match against Mikhail Youzhny of Russia, Gasquet then grabbed the next two sets, with Youzhny hitting wide on match point. Gasquet won 2-6, 6-4, 6-1.
