One of the breakout stars of the South Africa World Cup...is on the move. Real Madrid completed the signing of German international Mesut Ozil on Wednesday after the 21-year-old midfielder passed a medical with the Spanish club.
Ozil moves from Werder Bremen on a six-year deal, with the transfer reportedly worth 15 million Euros, and joins his countryman Sami Khedira at Madrid.
Mesut Ozil was introduced as a Real Madrid player on Wednesday by the club's General Director Jorge Valdano.
The two clubs hurried to complete the transfer before Bremen's Champions League qualifying game on Wednesday against Sampdoria.
The son of Turkish immigrants, Ozil arrived at Bremen in January 2008 from Schalke.
He won the German Cup in 2009 with Werder and scored 12 goals in 71 games.
However, the challenge of bringing more success to a club which has won nine European Cups and 31 La Liga titles was too much to resist.
He is Real's final summer recruit as they get set for their first season under former Inter Milan boss Jose Mourinho.
