Nadal, Djokovic win opening matches, Verdasco out

As the Cincinnati Masters goes into its third day, top seeds all come out in their openning matches. Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic upset their opponents, while Spaniard Fernando Verdasco goes out.

Rafael Nadal takes on American Taylor Dent in his opening match. The top-ranked Spaniard took control by dominating the first four games, losing nine points in a devastating 16-minute spell to wrap up the match 6-2 7-5.

Received a break from the heat during the midday match, third seed Novak Djokovic came across fellow Serb Viktor Troicki in his opening, easily donimating the game by 6-3 7-5. Later Djokovic will meet David Nalbandian in the next round.

Pity that, eighth seed Spaniard Fernando Verdasco fell out 7-6, 7-6 to American Mardy Fish in two tie-break sets,losing the first 7-1 and the second 7-4.

In another US-Spain match, tenth seed David Ferrer kept the Spanish flag flying by knocking out American Sam Querrey 7-5 6-2.

Wimbledon marathon man John Isner was forced to retire when leading 5-4 in the first set against David Nalbandian of Argentina. After receiving treatment, Isner finished the game, but withdrew after falling 30-0 behind in the next game.
