China win 4x100 freestyle gold
China tops the medal table at the Youth Olympic Games after Thursday's action, with 13 gold medals, and 22 overall to edge Russia for the lead. One of the days golds came in the girl's 4x100m freestyle relay.
Liu Lan, Bai Anqi, Wang Chang and Tang Yi swam for China. China had a modest beginning. Liu Lan, coming off the 100m Butterfly semi's, stayed with the pack through the first leg.
But then, the Chinese girls began to pick up steam. They were only in third after the second leg, the final two swimmers for China brought the gold home.
The team had extended its lead over the second place team by 0.63 seconds by the time Wang Chang finished the third leg.
Tang Yi took over the anchor leg for China. She has had an amazing run at the Youth Olympics, proving to be the most powerful swimmer on the girl's team. Tang touched the wall 2.38 seconds faster than her nearest rival. Tang wins her fourth Youth Olympic Gold, as China wins the 4x100m relay.
France's Mathllde Cini won the title in the women's 50m backstroke in another of the day's finals.
And Ukraine's Andrii Govorov won the gold in the men's 50m butterfly. Govorov's time of 23.64 seconds delivered his second gold of the Youth Olympics.
Sapsiree bests Deng Xuan to win
In the girl's singles badminton final...China's Deng Xuan was looked to continue her perfect run at the Olympics. But Deng was dominated in the gold medal match by Thailand's Taerattanachai Sapsiree.
Sapsiree took the first game in only 19 minutes...and continued the thrashing in game 2. Deng lost the second game in 19 minutes as well.
Sapsiree wins the gold, Deng settles for silver.
