Atletico Madrid beat Inter 2-0 win European Super Cup

It was Champions League champion, versus Europa League Champion with the European Super Cup, hanging in the balance on Friday. Atletico Madrid taking on Inter Milan for the cup.

Inter won the Champions League under former coach Jose Mourinho, who has been replaced by former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez.

Atletico, was looking to continue its run of form after winning the Europa League last season. But neither side could hardly make a breakthrough in the first half, although Sergio Aguero had several chances.

He found space in the penalty area moments before the interval, but drove his powerful shot over the

crossbar.The first half ended nil-nil.

Atletico took the lead in the 62nd minute when Inter failed to clear the ball on the edge of the area and it fell to Jose Antonio Reyes, who glided past Maicon with a neat touch and drove a shot into the bottom left corner past goalkeeper Julio Cesar

In the 83rd minute, Atletico doubled their lead when Aguero tapped into an empty net.

There was a chance for Inter Milan in the 90th minute..But striker Diego Milito's last-minute penalty was superbly saved by Atletico goalkeeper David de Gea. Atletico went on to seal the 2-0 victory.
