The World Combat Games continue their week-long run in Beijing, and we are putting the spotlight on boxing. It's an unlikely pairing, but over recent months the Welsh and Chinese Boxing associations have been steadily improving ties. The Combat Games saw a couple of fighters go toe to toe and mix things up on the canvas. Here' more on that.

Wales and China share many geographical elements. Perhaps the best known are rain and mountains. The countries also enjoy snooker and now Boxing. Welsh Coach Collin Jones and his team are in Beijing to prepare for the commonwealth games and Flyweight Joseph Cordina and Light Welter Weight Chris Jenkins will be going to India to compete in a little more than a months time. The competition will be much harder in the sub continent, and after three, three minute rounds, Jenkins came out the wrong side of a points decision 7-2.

As the other boxers worked through the fight card, the results at the inaugural games were not important for Coach Collin Jones. The emphasis was rather placed on mental preparation and relaxing ahead of the Commonwealth games.

The week long stop over in Beijing is just part of the preparations for the UK squad, if the boxers found the weather tough in China, they can expect the heat and Humidity of Thailand's training camp to sort the men from the boys.
