Spain prepares for friendly against Argentina

A great international friendly on the way this week from Argentina. World champions Spain will take on Argentina, and the World Cup champs hit the pitch in Buenos Aires on Sunday to get ready for the high-profile match up.

Spain's national football team trained at Boca Juniors' stadium - "La Bombonera" - as they prepare to take on Argentina in a friendly international on Tuesday.

Spain are in Argentina for the first time since the 1978 World Cup and meet their hosts on Argentine soil for the first time since a 1-1 draw in a 1974 friendly.

Spain lifted the World Cup for the first time this year after beating the Netherlands in the final in South Africa.

Spain will send most of the World Cup winning team members onto the pitch. Andres Iniesta, who scored the winning goal to help Spain take the World Cup, was given a thunderous welcome by the local fans.

World champions Spain will take on Argentina, and the World Cup champs hit the
pitch in Buenos Aires on Sunday to get ready for the high-profile match up.

Meanwhile, Spanish defender Sergio Ramos is relishing the test of matching up against the likes of Lionel Messi and the rest of the powerful Argentine offense.

Sergio Ramos, Spain defender said, "We are two important teams that are going to compete. Great players always have the opportunity to face the best and Argentina is one of the great selections."

The Spanish squad are due to meet Argentine president Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner during the visit. The match itself will take place at River Plate's Monumental stadium.
