Round seven of ten in the inaugural FIA GT1 World Championship, taking place in Portugal's Algarve region.

And there, Vitaphone Maserati drivers Andrea Bertolini and Michael Bartels stretched their lead at the top of the FIA GT1 World Championship after a solid performance on Sunday.

The main event started badly for Dutchman Nicky Pastorelli and Brazil's Enrique Bernoldi.

Pastorelli's Lamborghini went into a spin at the first corner, and Bernoldi was unable to avoid hitting his rival off the circuit.

Meanwhile, Peter Dumbreck had made a decent getaway up front, although Bertolini was still right on his tail after fifteen laps.

The Swiss Racing Team also went for a spin before - in the pits - Dumbreck and Michael Krumm suffered a setback.

A faulty wheel gun resulted in a 16-second delay for the Sumo Power pair, and having taken over behind the wheel in place of Bertolini, Michael Bartels rejoined the track in the lead.

Matech Competition's Richard Westbrook had also managed to get out of the pits ahead of Krumm and was soon charging past more rivals.

The Briton gained one place in his Ford GT after outbraking Alexandros Margaritis at the hairpin.

Richard Westbrook then forced his way up to second in place of Tomas Enge.

Enge, whose Young Driver team-mate Darren Turner had pitted around half an hour after Dumbreck and Bernoldi, then dropped several more positions as he struggled for speed in the Aston Martin DBR9.

Up ahead, Germany's Bartels took the chequered flag, as he and Italian Bertolini both moved on to 122 points in the drivers' standings.

After a visit to Brazil, the season will end in Argentina on 5th December.
