Woods prepares to defend title

11-11-2010 10:36 BJT

What a difference a year makes. That seemed to be the main subtexts for journalists following 'fallen idol' Tiger Woods as the American prepares to defend his Australian Masters title in Melbourne this coming weekend.

The American attempts to defend the title he claimed at the event last year. He won late in 2009 at Kingston Heath to wrap a week like no other in Melbourne, which featured a world class field that helped to produce record crowds that topped 100,000 over the four rounds. Failure to take back-to-back to victories at the event would see Woods go a full year without a win for the first time in his career.

Tiger Woods said, "I'm going to go out there and give it my best and try and make sure that I give myself every opportunity to win this event. If it happens, it happens, if it doesn't, it doesn't. That doesn't change my commitment to getting better."
