Yao missed most of the Wizards - Rockets game after he strained a tendon in his leg in the first quarter.

Wizards' rookie John Wall got his first triple-double with 19 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds to give Washington a second quarter lead.

Luis Scola helped bring the Rockets back. He cut the deficit to one point in the third quarter.

The Wizards' Yi Jianlian came off the bench and scored on a dunk. Washington increased its margin to 68-63.

Washington lost most of an 11-point advantage before Wall sparked a 10-0 run late in the foruth quarter. The Wizards top the Rockets 98-91.

Rookie rumbles

Rookie John Wall stole the spotlight when Washington met Houston in the first match of the season between China's NBA stars. Yao Ming had some words on the Chinese men's basketball team approaching the upcoming Asian Games.

Yaoming said,"Come on, Come on guys. I give my best regards to them. They are playing well, they did well at the world championships, and now I hope they can get the best results at the Asian Games. You know what I mean about the best results. That all I want to say."
