Tiger Woods is getting one last chance to win a tournament in 2010 at the Australian Masters. The opening round got underway at Victoria Golf Club in Melbourne, featuring a world-class field, on Thursday.

Woods struggled right off the start at the 10th hole. He quickly dropped a shot before scoring a birdie at the 17th. Tiger went to even par at the turn. Woods shot a two under par 69, and finished the day with a share of 17th.

Like Tiger, Sergio Garcia is also hoping to finish off an inconsistent season. The Spaniard dropped a total of five shots, including a double bogey at the tenth in a round of 73. That left him with a lowly share of 67th.

Nathan Green endured a rollercoaster first round on home soil. His day included six birdies and three bogeys in a round of 68, only good for a share of 11th place.

Australia's Alastair Presnell teed off from the tenth. He certainly made the most of his local knowledge as he shot a controlled two-under par. Presnell made an eagle at the tenth, before following it with three straight birdies. He would finish alongside compatriot Adam Bland in a first place tie. Both players carded rounds of 65.

Daniel Gaunt also rose into contention. He scored seven birdies. The only blemish Gaunt saw was a bogey at the 13th. So, its an all-Aussie trio leading after the first round. Gaunt, Bland and Presnell are up by two strokes, at six-under for the tournament.
