He remains the most successful Formula BMW driver of all time, and clearly enjoyed his time in the sport.

Sebastian Vettel returned to visit his racing roots on Monday.

Vettel said, "I was racing in Formula BMW in 2003 and 2004 and in first year I got the rookies-title and in the second year I won the championship, so a lot of memories, and in the second year especially we had lots of pole-positions but we won 18 out of 20 races, so that was very special and in the beginning of the season we started the habit to collect one smiley for each win and in the end we had the smileys all over the car up to the nose so it was really a very nice season."
