China men's basketball team defeat Iran in semifinal

Men's basketball is down to the last two after a pair of exciting semi-final showdowns. Iran faced the eight-time Asian finalist China in the first matchup at Guangzhou.

Early in the second quarter,Iran up by 4. China's Tang Zhengdong scores inside to reduce the gap to 12-10.

Counting down to the end of the half, Wang Zhizhi with an easy lay-in. He leveled the match at 20-all.

Then two minutes left, Wang Shipeng dials long distance. The three pointer makes it a one point game: Iran 63 - China 62.

Then Wang Zhizhi followed with another three pointer. China retakes the lead 65-63.

Iran tied the match again at 65-all. But Wang Shipeng launched and landed another huge 3. China seals the 68-65 victory and advances to the gold medal game.

S.Korea set up final showdown with China

South Korea took on Japan in the other semi. The South Koreans started slowly and hit only 3-for-13 in field goals. Japan went up by 5 early. Japan expanded the lead to 9 halfway to the second quarter. But they went cold from that point on. South Korea managed to take a 27-26 halftime lead. The South Koreans controlled the game from there. They hit a pair of free throws to clinch the victory 55-51, and advanced to the gold medal matchup with China.
