The Chinese Basketball team booked their place in the final after overcoming Iran on Thursday. China trailed 12-8 in the first quarter when they were beaten on the glass. Things improved for China in the second but both sides remained neck and neck and the teams exchanged the lead on 14 occasions.

With 6 minutes remaining, Iran sunk a 3-pointer giving them a 7 point advantage. And it was China's Wang Zhizhi who changed the momentum but still trailed by 1 point with 1 minute and 30 seconds remaining. Then Wang stepped up with a 3-pointer giving the hosts a 2 point lead. With time running out, Wang Shipeng caught a pass from Sun Yue in the left arc for a game tying score, after which no team could add any more points and remained on 65 each. Wang's game-winning three-pointer helped China turn the table around for a 68-65 win. The defending champions China will vie for the gold with South Korea on Friday.

And China's women's volleyball team took on DPR Korea on Thursday. The visitors had never been paired up on court over the last four years and facing an unfamiliar team, the Chinese girls played very well using a well marshalled defense. The home side team sezied the first set 25-11.

The other two sets went the way of China and it is they who advance to the final where they'll meet South Korea.
