Let's turn to tennis action from the Hopman Cup in Australia. The top-seeded team from Serbia opened its campaign against Kzakhstan in Perth on Sunday.

Ana Ivanovic of Serbia faced Kazakhstan's Yaroslava Shvedova. The former world number one soon had her first set point on the Shvedova serve. The Kazak netted with a weak volley to give her the set, 8-6 in a tiebreak.

The second set was less competitive. Shvedova didn't keep up with Ivanovic and the Serbian won 7-6, 6-1 to earn her country the first match win.

Novak Djokovic took on Andrey Golubev, and the Kazak needed to beat Serbian star Djokovic to keep his country in the tournament. Golubev succeeded by taking the first set 6-4. Djokovic faltered on his own serve in the tenth game.

But Djokovic won the second set 6-3 to level the match. Then the world number three kept the beat going in the third set. He hit a cross-court backhand pass to break Golubev's serve for a 2-0 lead.

Golubev faded as Djokovic won the match, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1. Serbia ensured itself a winning start in the Hopman Cup competition.

Djokovic and Ivanovic teamed up to win the mixed doubles. They completed a 3-0 scoreline. The top seeds went to the top of Group A ahead of hosts Australia.
