China defeat defending champion Iraq in Asian Cup warm-up

China's football team went into action against Asian Cup defending champion Iraq in Qatar on Sunday. It was the last warm-up match for the tournament which starts January the 7th.

The Asian Cup Committee set the game between China and Iraq as a test match, to make sure all of the supporting activities would go according to plan, and the game was played under tight security.

China coach Gao Hongbo started the second group from his most recent training session. Hao Junmin scored first, just four minutes into the game. But the defending champion fought back with two goals later in the first half. The Chinese side exchanged some key players before notching two more goals in the second half. Zhao Peng and Deng Zhuoxiang sealed a 3-2 victory for China. Iraqi midfielder Nashat Akram complimented the Chinese team's performance after the match.
