Atlanta edge Montreal 4-3 in NHL

01-04-2011 10:31 BJT

The Atlanta Thrashers visited Montreal to face the Canadiens. Atlanta's Rich Peverley and Montreal's Tomas Plekanec both scored in the first period. Then Atlanta went back in front. Evander Kane knocked in the rebound.

Midway through the period, Montreal's P.K. Subban tied the game again. He drove-in a one-timer. The sides were even at 2.

Atlanta took the lead for the third time at the end of the second period. Tobias Enstrom went to Andrew Ladd for his 13th goal of the season.

But the Canadiens would score late in the third period and force overtime. That gave Atlanta's Dustin Byfuglien a chance to be the hero. He scored the game-winner on a power-play slap shot. Atlanta skates away with a 4-3 victory and stays in touch with Tampa Bay and Washington at the top of their division in the NHL.
