In the Group's earlier match, Uzbekistan took on Kuwait.

Five minutes before half-time.

Maksim Shatskikh's free-kick deflecting off the back of team-mate Azizbek Heydarov to leave Yaqoub Al Taher completely wrong-footed - Uzbekistan with a one-nil lead at the interval.

Kuwait brought on Hamad Nayef for the second half - and he made an immediate impression as he was fouled inside the box by defender Anzur Ismailov as Uzbekistan conceded a soft penalty.

Bader Al Mutwa then sent the keeper the wrong way from the spot to equalise after 49 minutes.

In 64th minute more from the Uzbek's.

Server Djeparov exchanged passes with substitute Jasur Khasonov, before curling a sublime left-footed shot into the far corner of the net.

2-1 the final score.

With the win, Uzbekistan now top the group with six points.
