Over to tennis...and a potential hat-trick for Kim Clijsters at Indian Wells. She won the tournament back in 2003 and 2005, but faced a tough test in the third round in California.

The Belgian went up against Italy's Sara Errani. Clijsters won the opening set, but took a stumble on the scoreboard in the second. Errani won it to level the match. But the number two seed did enough to stay on course for another title. Clijsters beat Errani 6-3, 2-6, 6-4.

Francesca Schiavone advanced with a straight sets win over Frenchwoman Alize Cornet. Schiavone beat Cornet in all four of their meetings last year, and the number five seed maintained her dominance over the world number 70 with a 6-2, 6-3 victory.

On the men's side...8th seed Andy Roddick met James Blake in an all-American clash. Roddick closed out a 6-3, 7-5 victory with a trademark ace. He set up a third round meeting with another American, John Isner.

And Stanislas Wawrinka produced the biggest upset at Indian Wells. The Swiss faced Nikolay Davydenko in the men's second round, and came from one set down for a comeback win. He won the deciding set for a 3-6, 7-6, 6-4 finish. Wawrinka will face Marin Cilic in the next round.
