The athletics spotlight will shine on Chinese hurdler Liu Xiang again next month. He's confirmed to take part in the IAAF's Diamond League meet in Shanghai. The Shanghai Golden Grand Prix will celebrate its sixth straight year as the League's 2nd stop May 15th.

Hurdling world number 1 David Oliver ran the 110 meter hurdles under 13 seconds, five times in a row last year. He will battle side-by-side with Liu Xiang for the first time since Liu's return from injury.

Other stars committed to appear include Finland's Andreas Thorkildsen, who won the javelin at both the most recent Olympics and World Championships, plus new Asian track standout Lao Yi, and China's first discus world champion Li Yanfeng.

He said, "I have tried all kinds of training recently, like pulling the rubber string, and wearing the heavyweight coat. My aim is to improve my speed in the first three hurdles. It is not the same for Dayron Robles and Oliver. It's very difficult, but I will try my best to shorten the gap on them during the first three hurdles."
