China's Li Zhaoyi was fighting to capture gold in the women's 46 kilogram category. She faced home favorite So-Hui Kim.

The Chinese gained an early point. Li, in red, scored with a quick kick. But her South Korean opponent was tough. Kim scored three points on a head kick, and it looked like she grabbed the lead.

A review showed the kick came after the judge stopped the action, and the score remained at 1-0 with Li in front. Kim attacked with a new sense of urgency. She led the match 9-1, after an aggressive set of moves put the Chinese on the defensive.

Kim then began to slow her pace and was warned for delaying the action. Li fought back hard, but ran out of time. Kim took the gold and Li settled for silver in a frantic finish.
