Chinese paddlers dominating World Table Tennis C'ships

China is continuing to run the tables at the World Table Tennis Champioships in The Netherlands. All seven members of the women's national team have reached the round of 16, and the men were getting it done as well in Rotterdam on Wednesday.

In men's singles, the top seed and 2009 world champion Wang Hao of China faced a South Korean in round three. Wang dropped the fourth game against Kim Min Seok but would close out a 11-7, 12-10, 11-7, 5-11, 11-5 victory. The match lasted 31 minutes.

Ma Lin of China is the third highest male seed. He also claimed a straight games win. Gionis Panagiotis of Greece improved after a tough opening game but Ma went through 11-1, 11-7, 11-8, 11-8.

The DPRK's Kim Jong gave it her all against women's No.1 Li Xiaoxia, but went down 11-6, 11-9, 12-10, 11-5.

Number three seed Ding Ning faced Beh Lee Wei of Malaysia. It was another triumph for China, Ding winning 11-9, 11-2, 11-7, 11-9 to set up a match against Japan's Kasumi Ishikawa in round four.

China's Guo Yan, the second seed, needed five games to oust her 17th-ranked rival from Singapore 12-10, 11-6, 7-11, 12-10, 11-5. Guo will now take on Dutch player Li Jie.

In men's doubles, second seeds Wang Hao and Zhang Jike of China knocked out ninth-seeded Swedes Par Gerell and Jens Lundqvist in the last sixteen. Wang and Zhang's 4-1 success was repeated by the third seeds, Chen Qi and Ma Lin, also of China. Chen and Ma held it together to beat ninth seeds Gao Ning and Yang Zi of Singapore 11-4, 11-8, 11-1, 9-11, 11-6.
