Triumph on the field and plenty of celebrations off it. Our London correspondent Richard Bestic joined jubilant Barcelona fans as they made their way home.

A frenzy of celebrations, both uncontained and apparently unending. Barcelona's team this season billed as one of the greatest in the club's history, and now these fans here say they have proved it.

"We knew they would not take second place for an answer, and now it's time for the celebrations."

Manchester United had been the only team to be undefeated during the entire competition. Until that is they confronted the mesmerising skills of Barcelona. Loyal United fans dignified in defeat.

A side then beaten but unbowed.

It was a defining night for European football Barcelona really kings of continent. The Prize a trophy $175 million dollars and a place in football history.
