Rafael Nadal remained on course for a record-equalling sixth French Open title by routing the one man who's got the best out of him this week, Robin Soderling, as they battled for a semi finals berth on Wednesday.

Gunning for a record-equalling sixth Roland Garros title, Rafael Nadal had his best brought out by Robin Soderling. Nadal, who lost to the Swedish fifth seed while injured at the same stage in 2009, took the first set 6-4 after breaking twice.

Soderling went on the offensive at the start of the second set but, after winning the first game on serve, he lost six in a row to trail two sets to love.

At 5-5 on Nadal's serve in the third set, Soderling saw a total of three break points saved by the Spaniard and the set went to a tie-break. The Spainsh world number one took command and ran out a 6-4 6-1 7-6 winner in two hours 35 minutes.

Murray beats Ignacio Chela

Andy Murray, who had twisted his ankle in his fourth round match, recovered from two breaks down in the opening set against unseeded Argentinian Juan Ignacio Chela to win the tie-break 7-2.

The fourth-seeded Briton threw away a 5-2 lead in the second before recovering and winning five games in a row. The Scot, who has never won a Grand Slam title, was more consistent in the third set and sealed the win with some delicate play.

Murray will need to improve significantly to stand a chance of booking a place in the final as his next opponent is world number one Rafael Nadal.
