MLB: Yankees down Indians 4-0

The Cleveland Indians are now clinging to the lead in the AL-Central. After a red hot start the tribe have lost 12 of 16 games. The team was hoping a trip to New York to face the Yankees could turn their fortunes around.

And there is a look at new Yankee stadium. Scoreless in the 4th inning when Alex Rodriguez drills a solo homer to leftcenter. Yankees up 1-0.

Bottom half of the 6th inning, and Curtis Granderson goes large. His 20th homer of the season pushes the Yankees lead to 2-0. Granderson is now tied with the Toronto Blue Jays Jose Bautista for the AL lead in homers.

The Yankees continue the long ball attack in the 8th. Mark Teixeira homers to make it 4-0 Yankees. New York goes to shutout Cleveland by the same score and hand the struggling Indians their third straight loss.

Pirates edge Mets 3-2

The Pittsburgh Pirates entertaining R.A. Dickey and the New York Mets.

Pick things up in the third tied at 1. Andrew McCutchen hits a hot shot down the third base line that Daniel Murphy can't handle. The ball slowly trickles into leftfield, easily allowing Jose Tabata and Josh Harrison to score. 3-1 Pirates.

Fifth inning and the Metropolitans would get one back. Carlos Beltran's infield single plates Jose Reyes -- Pirates still lead 3-2.

Same score in the 9th and closer Joel Hanrahan gets Ruben Tejada to ground out -- that's his 16th save in as many opportunities, sealing Pittsburgh's 3-2 win over the Mets.
