U-20 World Cup: France defeats S. Korea 3-1

Over to the Under-20 World Cup in Colombia. European champions France met South Korea in Group A. France need a victory to stay in the tournament after suffering 4-1 defeat to the hosts in the World Cup opener.

France attacked right from the start, creating two chances in just 10 minutes. In the 27th minute, they broke the deadlock, Gilles Sunu drilled in the header from a corner and France was up 1-nil. They held the lead all the way to the break.

Fiftee minutes into the second half South Korea pulled one back, Kim Young-uk sends a 20-meter free kick high into the corner to make it 1-1 with thirty minutes still to play. The French keeper Jonathan Ligali unable to prevent the leveler.

With 9 minutes left, Gueida Fofana's shot deflects off Kim Jin-su's head and past the South Korean goalkeeper. Tragedy for South Korea as an own goal puts France up 2-1.

And Alexandre Lacazette closes it out in stoppage time. His scissor kick sealing a 3-1 victory for France who now have three points from two matches.
