Teams contested the FIVB World Volleyball Grand Prix's Luohe leg in Henan province. The host team took on the USA in its third game of the tournament.

China rallied with the Americans in the opening set as veteran Wang Yimei led the way at the net. Wang and her teammates established a winning pace with a series of strong finishing spikes.

But errors began to build for China, and the home side lost the set 25-20. The USA began to build up its momentum in a second set that wasn't as close as the first.

The Americans landed the second set 25-17, and took aim at a rare 3-set sweep against the Chinese. China continued to fade in the third, the USA took the final set 25-16 and took the match 3-0.

The Americans claimed three wins out of three matches, and left the Chinese coaches looking for improvement.

Yu Juemin, head coach of China Women's Volleyball Team, said, "I think the players' psychology has affected their performance in the first pass position. This also impacts our whole offensive strategy. Our opponents are very strong and apply pressure. We make errors which should not happen when dealing with various shots. We don't play to our normal training level."
