Chinese Women's Basketball team seek breakthrough at Universiade

China's women's basketball team will feature players from China's three-time reigning national university league champions, Beijing Normal University.

Gong Yuan will hit the hardwood for the first time at a Universiade, and is ready for the tougher level of competition the Chinese team is sure to experience.

Gong Yuan from Women’s Basketball Team said, "The Universiade is a high level event for me. This will be harder than the University basketball league. For example, the skills at the Universiade will be much better than in the UBL.

China finished 10th at the 2009 Universiade, and have drawn a tough trio of opponents for the group stage, as they will take on Chinese Taipei, France and Lithuania.
