Rogers Cup: Gasquet eliminates Mayer in straight sets

Elsewhere France's Richard Gasquet took on Germany's Florian Mayer. Gasquet the 10th seed had three break points in the opening set, of which he took one. Gasquet served for the set and after a long rally he clinched it when Meyer sent a routine forehand into the net to give the Frenchman the first set 6-3.

Gasquet broke Meyer twice in the second set and served for the match, holding to love and eased to a straight sets 6-3 6-2 win.
