The final major of the year was hard to believe in so many ways. First of all Tiger Woods finished outside the top 100 for the first time in a major, then U.S Open champion Rory Mcllroy hit a tree root and played the game with his right wrist heavily taped, and to top it all off Keegan Bradley, a 25-year old PGA Tour rookie who is ranked 108 in the world, wrapped up the title. Jason Dufner and won the PGA Championship at the Atlanta Athletic Club on Sunday.

The PGA Championship came to a dramatic close at The Highlands Course at the Atlanta Athletic Club on Sunday.

Jason Dufner played spectacularly for the first 14 holes. He reeled off 10 pars and 4 birdies. However, that lead didn't last as Dufner hit his tee shot into the water on the 15th for the first of three straight bogeys that led to a three-hole playoff.

Bradley was five shots behind after his chip shot also found the water on the 15th, leading to a triple bogey. But he made stunning turnaround with back-to-back birdies, including a 35-footer that rattled into the hole on the 17th.

Bradley parred the 18th, meaning a birdie by Dufner would give him the win. But Dufner's ball rolled just left of the hole on 17th and his long putt for birdie broke just ahead of the hole on the 18th.

Bradley and Dufner took their tussle into a three-hole, total-stroke playoff on 16, 17 and 18. Bradley seized a two-shot lead with his birdie on the 16th and Dufner's 3-putt bogey at 17.

Bradley calmly closed the game with another clutch par on the final hole. With the trophy in hand he also made a stunning leap from 108th in the world rankings all the way to 29th position, it's his second playoff victory this year and he becomes only the third player in 98 years to win a major at his first attempt.

Keegan Bradley said, "Oh, it feels unbelievable. Like I said in there, it seems like a dream and I'm afraid I'm going to wake up here in the next five minutes and it's not going to be real. It's an honour to be champion of the PGA. My father is a PGA member and it feels great."
