One of the most drawn-out transfer sagas of recent years has finally reached a conclusion. On Monday, 24-year old Spanish mid-fielder Cesc Fabregas finally rejoined Barcelona from Arsenal. The rumoured move has been in the works for over a year and sees Fabregas return home.

In front of thousands of Barcelona supporters, Cesc Fabregas has finally made his return to the Nou Camp.

Barcelona failed to sign Fabregas a year ago amid intense speculation on either side of Spain's World Cup triumph in South Africa.

This time they have got their man on a five-year contract after paying Arsenal 29 million euros, which could rising to a possible 39 million based on Barca's trophy success.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, unhappy to lose his star midfielder...but says this is part of the business side of the game, and that the Gunners aren't left holding an empty clip.

Arsene Wenger, Arsenal Manager said, "Yes, we lost a world class player and we are sad about it. We did fight to keep him but in the end you have to respect the desire of the player and this club is 125 years old and we've seen many big players leave the club and the club went on. That's what we want to show - we have the strengths and unity to fight as ever we did at this club."

Fabregas says the saga has not affected his relationship with Wenger. The Spaniard, with nothing but praise for his former manager.

Cesc Fabregas said, "The relationship is fantastic. I spoke to him on Friday to say goodbye to him and, as I said before, I got very emotional because he's been like a father figure to me. I couldn't even talk at one stage, when I wanted to say how grateful I was for what's he done for me. I got a little bit emotional and I couldn't talk much so I had to send him a message afterwards, saying what he's done to me. I will never forget it."

Fabregas came through Barcelona's youth academy alongside Lionel Messi before joining Arsenal in 2003 where he scored 57 goals in 303 appearances.

The only trophy he won with 'the Gunners' was the 2005 FA Cup, with Arsenal's 2004 Premier League success coming before he broke into the first team.

Fabregas says he is a different player than he was when he was a mere youngster at Barcelona.

Cesc Fabregas said, "Nowadays I have much more experience and I am much calmer. When you are younger you have different goals. I knew that some day sooner or later I would take this train."

Fabregas has declared himself available for Wednesday's Spanish Super Cup second leg against Real Madrid at the Nou Camp, with the sides level at 2-2 after Sunday's first leg at the Bernabeu.
