Major League Soccer's LA Galaxy have made another high profile addition as the Galaxy has announced the side has reached an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur to buy Ireland captain Robbie Keane.

The 31-year-old, Ireland's all-time leading scorer, has struggled to hold down a starting spot at Spurs over the last two seasons and has spent time on loan at Celtic and West Ham United.

The Galaxy deal is subject to Keane receiving a visa and the club said they will have to make a change to their squad list before adding Keane because they already have three designated players, the footballers who are paid mainly outside the club's salary cap.

LA Galaxy coach Bruce Arena expects Keane will be a positive addition to the squad.

Bruce Arena, LA Galaxy Coach said, "He is a great addition to our team. We're all excited about bringing him here. I think he's excited as well. I think I know it. I think he could be an excellent addition to the squad. He's experienced player, a proven player at the club and international level. I think at an age where he still will have many productive years ahead of him."
