It's playoff time for Champions League qualification and Arsenal hosted Udinese in the first leg. The Gunners were without new captain Robin van Persie and Samir Nasri, through suspension, and manager Arsene Wenger was also banished from the touchline but in the end, they weren't needed as the side looked to progress to Europe's most prestigious tournament for a 14th consecutive time.

The Premier League side got off to a dream start. Strong team play ends up finding Theo Walcott, whose deft touch sends the ball home less than four minutes into the match.

Udinese tried to haul themselves back into the match when Captain Antonio Di Natale went close, hitting the bar with a free kick in the first half.

Colombian Pablo Armero should have scored after a 60-metre solo run on goal ended with him firing straight at the deft keeper.

Udinese pressed harder, but the Arsenal keeper proved unbeatable, denying several attempts. Arsenal up 1-0 heading into the second leg.
