After the tetchy departure of Andy Roddick from the draw on Monday, the home fans were given something to cheer about when wild card James Blake stepped up to take a notable scalp in the form of Italy's Fabio Fognini, who had earlier beaten 14th seed Viktor Troicki in the first round. Blake broke Fognini's serve once in the first set to take it 6-4 and two more breaks in the second, with Blake closing out an impressive 2-love victory with an ace.
